Privacy Policy

Lexog (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a personal vocabulary app for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at hello@lexog.app.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password via Firebase Authentication. We do not store raw passwords.

Vocabulary content

We store the words, phrases, idioms, definitions, example sentences, source texts, categories, and review history you create inside the app. This content is yours and is stored securely on our servers.

Usage data

We collect basic usage information such as review session counts and feature interactions to improve the product. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the Lexog service.
• To power spaced-repetition review sessions using your saved vocabulary.
• To generate AI-suggested definitions and example sentences via Google Gemini when you request them.
• To enable the Claude Desktop integration when you generate and share an API key.
• To respond to support requests sent to hello@lexog.app.

3. Third-Party Services

Lexog uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Authentication (Google) — account sign-in and identity management.
• Google Gemini — AI-generated word definitions, examples, and daily content. Only the specific word or text you request suggestions for is sent to Gemini.
• Anthropic Claude — optional integration via the Claude Desktop MCP server. Only activated if you generate an API key and connect it yourself. Your vocabulary data is shared with Claude only during active sessions you initiate.
• Render — cloud database and backend hosting.

Each third party operates under its own privacy policy. We share only the minimum data required for each feature to function.

4. Data Retention

Your account and vocabulary data are retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@lexog.app. We will complete deletion within 30 days.

5. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are managed by Firebase Authentication and never stored in plaintext. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, though no system is completely secure.

6. Children's Privacy

Lexog is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at hello@lexog.app and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@lexog.app.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the app or by email. Continued use of Lexog after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
